Transfer to Lake Nakuru
Meal Plan: Full board | Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge
You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel and depart by road through the Great Rift Valley, making a stop at the viewpoint to take in the sights of Lake Nakuru National Park. You will arrive at Lake Nakuru mid-morning, check in at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, and enjoy a mid-morning game drive along with other activities before settling down for lunch. Lake Nakuru is renowned for its prolific birdlife, including greater and lesser flamingoes, as well as other terrestrial birds like pelicans and cormorants. The park features a sanctuary for the conservation of endangered white rhinos, and you can spot species such as Cape buffalos, zebras, and reedbucks near the shoreline.
After lunch, at 2 PM, proceed to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride to Crescent Island Sanctuary, where you can enjoy a unique walk with wildlife. The sanctuary is home to giraffes, waterbucks, elands, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, and hippos, among other wildlife. You can also observe a variety of birds, including fish eagles, ospreys, and lily-trotters. You will later return to Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge sits on a range of hills that form the western limits of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, overlooking Lake Nakuru and boasting spectacular views of the national park. The lodge features an infinity swimming pool (including a pool bar) that overlooks the lake, while the lounge, bar, and dining room all have large covered outdoor viewing terraces. The lodge is 165 km from Nairobi, approximately a 2.5-hour drive or a 30-minute flight from Wilson Airport to Naishi airstrip, followed by a 15-minute transfer to the lodge.

This iconic landscape of rolling grasslands and acacia savannas is home to the largest lion population, as well as zebras, spotted hyenas, black-backed jackals, hippos, giraffes, elands, and wildebeests. Upon arrival, check in at the Mara Explorer Camp.
Mara Explorer Tented Camp is a luxury accommodation located in the Sekenani area, just 4 km from the Sekenani Gate, on the banks of the Talek River in the heart of Maasai Mara National Park. The camp lies within the Mara ecosystem at the confluence of the four main game-viewing areas. It is situated approximately 260 km from Nairobi by road, with a 45-minute flight to the nearby Ol-Kiombo airstrip, followed by a short transfer to the camp. If you visit during the Great Migration (July – October), you will witness the spectacular movement of thousands of zebras, gazelles, and wildebeests crossing the Mara River, searching for fresh grasses.
