4 Days Tsavo West – Amboseli – Tsavo East Itinerary


Day 1 : Mombasa – Tsavo West National Park (240 km's, Approximately 4 Hours)

Depart from the Coast town of Mombasa for our inland safari journey via Mombasa – Nairobi highway. The (240 kilometer), 4-hour journey will have a break for refreshments and bathroom facilities along the way. Our game drive begins upon entering the Tsavo West National Park at Mtito Gate. We arrive at the lodge/ camp in time for lunch. Late afternoon, we visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary which is a 70 km2 fenced area where Tsavo’s growing population of endangered black rhino are inching their way back from the chasm of extinction that was forced upon them by rampant poaching in the 1960’s. Later proceed on a game-drive where we see buffalos, elephants, lions, cheetah, giraffes etc. As the sun sets we head back to our camp/ lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 2 : Tsavo West National Park – Amboseli National Park (140 Kilometers, 3 Hours)

Sun rise finds us ready and out for an early morning game 'spice' drive. We will visit the Mzima Springs and explore on foot to see hippos under water, crocodiles, exotic fish, and tropical vegetation. On our drive this morning we shall also get to see many resident and migratory bird species. We return for breakfast then check out of our hotel and proceed further south to the Amboseli National Park. The drive takes approximately 2 hours. Lunch in Amboseli, we relax before setting out for our afternoon game drive. Amboseli is a relatively small park hence animal spotting is easy and fast. On a clear day we should be able to see Mt. Kilimanjaro from a distance. Some of the common animals you might see are large families of elephants, buffaloes, lions, zebras, gazelles, hyenas, giraffes, cheetahs, monkeys, baboon, hippos and prolific birdlife up to approximately 425 species. We will return to our lodge/camp for meals and overnight. Overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge or Similar

Day 3 : Amboseli National Park – Tsavo East National Park (300 Kilometers, 5 Hours)

After an early breakfast in Amboseli, we depart by road with a game drive en-route to Tsavo East National Park. Our drive takes us through the farmlands of a local tribe called Kamba. We arrive in Tsavo East National Park in time for lunch followed by some free time before setting out on another game drive in the late afternoon. Tsavo East is known for excellent game viewing which includes lions, leopard, cheetah, zebras, giraffes, serval, antelopes, kongoni, lesser kudu, oryx, klipspringer, impala, stripped hyena, ostriches, gazelles, buffalos, elephants and many more. A variety of migratory and native birds are seen. The birds are viewed between late October and early January, and come from as far as Eastern and Western Europe. Day 4: Tsavo East National Park – Mombasa Island (160 Kilometers, 2 hours)

Explore the vastness of Tsavo East National Park on an early morning game drive and return to lodge/ camp for a full English breakfast. With breakfast done we check-out of our accommodations and depart by road back to Mombasa with a mini-game drive en-route.
